Leader Sponsors Red Bull Ride + Style 2013

Leader Bikes will be the official bike sponsor of Red Bull Ride + Style 2013 on Saturday, May 4th. Two of Leader’s sponsored athletes have qualified to compete in the closed event.
“It’s a prestigious thing to compete in Red Bull Ride + Style,” explained Matt Lingo, Director of Marketing for Leader Bikes. “Our riders Addison Zawada and Joshua Boothby were both invited automatically because they took 1st place in the race and trick competitions last year. We’re stoked to see them defend their titles.”
Now in its third year, Red Bull Ride + Style combines urban contemporary art with fixed-gear racing and freestyle riding. The spectator-friendly festival takes place in San Francisco’s Justin Herman Plaza. Top fixed-gear racers and trick riders must qualify or receive an invitation to participate.
Traditionally reserved for the velodrome race track, but made popular on city streets by bike messengers, fixed gear bikes are single-speed bicycles that forego a freewheel and instead use a lock ring. This allows the rider to control the speed of the bike without the use of brakes.
“Red Bull Ride + Style has earned its place as the most important event of the year in fixed gear,” said Leader founder Sal Lombroso. “As one of the leading companies in the fixed-gear phenomenon, we couldn’t be happier to be its official bike sponsor.”

“HAME, Scottish slang for home, sees Dave Hall featuring in his second web edit, this time joined by his friend, James Wright. This two part video sees them riding from Glasgow, Scotland and set out to tackle Crow Road. A notorious climb that starts in Lennoxtown and twists it’s way 7 miles towards Gonachan Cottage. As this would be the last time I’d be working with Dave on UK soil for at least 18 months, I felt that it was only right to add in a little extra at the end of the originally planned video.”
